OUR CURRENT PROJECTS AND PROGRAMMES
Project LOYAL
Since September 2008, ICDI has instituted an intensive action research and is championing a new, unique and aggressive youth and community –based study and engagement cum intervention process aimed at stemming the increasing youth violence and crimes around the UK, particularly in London, the metropolitan hub where records of unprecedented knife violence is threatening future of the youths and the general peace and development of her communities.
The initiative, which is tagged PROJECT LOYAL, is aimed at developing grassroots baseline data on violent youth crimes and its causes, as well as using research results to propose intervention models that integrates youth and community-based methodology in the reduction of occurrences of violent youth crime.
Two years on since the research began, and the challenges posed by knife crimes rages on requiring more intensive and sustained attention and policy actions. ICDI however, has been advocating with many public authorities and partnering with several youth and community organizations, parents cooperatives, local boroughs and civil society organizations, in raising the stakes and implementing decisive and re-orientation programmes to curb the menace and waste of lives attendant of knife violence, especially at a time when London will soon be hosting the world in the forthcoming Olympics game come 2012.

Participatory Budgeting and Public Accountability Advocacy/Initiative Following the engagement of some of our core members by the World Bank in Participatory Budgeting advocacies across East, West and Southern Africa and promotion of public and social accountability, ICDI has began conscientious efforts of championing grassroot advocacies/ consultations towards filling the gap of creating (further) educative and re-orientation literatures that can promote cooperation and learning on good governance by means of providing conceptual guidance, well-researched information that can facilitate peer-learning among practitioners, policy-makers, civil societies and researchers on the subject of Participatory Budgeting, and by stimulating platforms where practitioners can contribute their innovations, lessons to overcome common challenges more effectively. Several books and journal publications, academic and position papers are due in this respect, as the organization continue to make a case for effective public accountability, in raising the bar of good-governance and wide-spread development.
